Statue of Unity or Goonity ?

When India got it's independence and started framing it's own constitution, parallely two great men were working for the stability of acoustic India which was hit by a major pogrom during those days. People across border were chopping themselves as a butcher chops meat into pieces. The purpose was "political" and had nothing to do theoretically with "Sapno ka Pakistan". These two great men, one being Nehru and the other Sardar Patel, two chosen, quite wisely in a combo pack by a sage named Gandhi, tried their best to contain these riots and let not out-breach it so that it may lead to demand of separate "Khalistan".

Nehru, being modern, worked as a Prime Minister and went on establishing schools, colleges, research institutions, industries etc. Patel being a Home Minister proved his legacy and worthiness for that job by adding the princely states, all of them (an impossible task according to the then Viceroy of India himself), defeating and pushing the invading forces out of this country in the peaceful valley of Kashmir.

In-spite of differences over several issues, these two men worked like blood brothers, which the Mother India had dreamt about. Definitely, if you are working for similar purpose, difference of opinion is liable to occur. But few goons took it as if Patel was being sided and intentionally neglected over several issues despite this fact that Nehru, don't know how many numbers of times, yielded to the ideas of Patel.

The Story of the Successor

Patel belonged to Gujarat and a politician, who is a prime ministerial candidate this time, also belongs to the same state. He has proposed a statue in the honour of Patel who unified India and kept India intact, under one umbrella. The statue will be 182 metre statue at Sadhu Bet island near the Sardar Sarovar dam in Gujarat. The site is stunning, on the far bank, about 400 metre away, the land is still untouched. In order to set up this land, Kevadia Area Development Authority (KADA) has been created. The KADA project is supposed to affect around 70 villages which is almost equal to 67 sq. km of Narmada district and the nearby area is majorly inhabited by tribal population. The rule is this that a land owned by a tribal person can only be sold to another tribal person. But under KADA, agricultural land can be declared  N.A. (non-agricultural) Once done, as according to the farmers residing nearby, they will be left with no other option than to sell their lands.

If this happens then government drop them off as PAP (project-affected-people). And hence, no compensation because it is not the government which has moved them, they themselves sold their land and moved away because it was N.A. More than that the local activist maintain this fact that the norms of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) notification of 2006 has also not been meted out.
The areas of concerns are too many, it's difficult to mention them all here, since most of you who are reading this have "matured", I just want to give you a very small advice for free, you have internet and trust-able media groups such as Economic and Political Weekly, Frontline etc. Being a voter, you should search it out.

More than that, this successor claimed that there were always difference of opinions and Sardar was always sided away. I don't know how this Sardar went on correcting Nehru on countless issues when he was always sided. They cited few books which mentioned the differences over opinions. Well, I must say ," Sir !! that's not enough. I always have difference of opinion with my best friends when we discuss something of our common interest." I can't say what is in common interest of yours but I must conclude that mocking these great souls, which you could never be, is perhaps your hobby. And I also admit by observing the number of shares and likes on your promoted video of so called "Statue of Unity" that Katju was not wrong when he said, "90% of Indians are fools." Indeed these observations made him the number 6th judge of Supreme Court and the present Chairman of Press Council of India. And you must admit, these are responsibility which one doesn't get by making the mockery of this great democracy as you did.

Conclusion

Your project costs 2500 crore and you claimed yourself to be successor of Patel who unified this country. I pose this challenge to you, he unified all the princely states which was considered to be impossible, can you unify these Rivers which could put an end to the droughts and can become the jeevandayini for the farmers who depend on the market traders for their livelihood? Come-on Sir, this job is considered as "Possible".

I must not say anymore but the kind of support which your project has got, I must say again, Katju was no wrong. For me it does not represents "Unity" but it definitely represents " Goonity". Patel must be turning in his grave !!!

  1. Bravo!! Nice work..You proved your point quite spectacularly. My Hats off to you for this! This is what is needed the most in this inchoate political situation. The followers and supporters of him need to know the bare truth behind his policies and He himself should understand the meaning of political legacy of Sardar Patel before claiming himself to be his successor. The political situations and the so called 'Leaders' have now become an object of ridicule to me and pathetically disappointing it is to see people looking at him as their Source of Salvation! Different candidates and still what we lack in this country of more than 1.2 billion population is ONE genuine Leader!
